When Tania Jones received her first keyboard at the age of three, she amazed her parents by immediately picking out a Stevie Wonder tune. It was then that her father and mother realized that she had something special. She spent her childhood years receiving classical piano training and developing a deep-rooted love for singing in her family’s church. Having composed her first song at only eight years old, Tania is not only an accomplished pianist and vocalist, but also a gifted songwriter, arranger, and composer.
Tania’s life-long metamorphosis into a phenomenal musician shows in every way: in her infectious enthusiasm for life and music, in her compositions, and most certainly in her singing. Since moving to Boston in 2006, she has performed in venues all over the country, and has shared the stage with such artists as musical phenomenon Lalah Hathaway, Me’shell Ndegeocello, Nona Hendryx of Labelle, and Felicia Collins of The Late Show With David Letterman.
With influences such as Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan, Rachelle Ferrell, and Jill Scott, she is a natural at articulating practically every genre of music--from jazz to pop to funk to neo-soul. Her youthful voice is irresistibly childlike but hauntingly powerful, and perfectly complements her playful melodies and catchy music. Her lyrical prowess and eclectic style make her one of the most exciting additions to the New England/New York area.
